The official PC control list is compact: WASD moves, E opens inventory, M opens Bob’s map, Left Click breaks or attacks, and Right Click places or uses the selected item. Those five inputs cover the actions most likely to stop a new player. The live HUD can show extra contextual keys, but they should not be presented as universal until you see them on your device and current mode.
Official PC control lookup
These bindings come directly from the Roblox experience description. They are a reliable base, but they are not a complete accessibility or platform map. Sprint, sneak, dropping items, crafting, hotbar selection, and Creative-only actions can appear in the HUD or a contextual prompt and may change with the live build.
Inventory: select before you interact
Press E to open inventory when you need to confirm what you actually carry. Opening the panel does not automatically equip a bone, food item, block, or tool. Move the required item into the active slot, close the panel, and look at the held item before using it.
This matters when taming Jerry. The Good Boy badge requires three bones, while Right Click is the published Place / Use input. If Right Click places an unrelated block or does nothing, reopen inventory and verify the active item rather than repeatedly clicking Jerry with the wrong selection.
Inventory management also protects an ending attempt. Keep materials tied to the active objective in predictable slots. When a walkthrough refers to redrock dust, flint and steel, food, or a tool, compare the name with the live objective and inventory; do not substitute a similar-looking item just because an older video used different wording.
Map: use it before the route becomes urgent
Press M to view Bob’s map. The developer names Bob’s cabin, grave, and log as story destinations and describes a large world of caves, forests, and marshes. Use the map to choose a direction while there is still daylight, then close it and confirm that movement has focus again.
The map is most useful when paired with a return rule. Choose a landmark, note your camp direction, and decide when food, health, inventory space, or daylight makes you turn back. A screenshot from another player’s route can help, but the current map and objective are stronger evidence than a coordinate copied from an earlier build.
In multiplayer, say which marker you are following before the group splits. Other players may be pursuing another ending or returning to camp. Following their avatar without checking your own map can carry the objective item in the wrong direction.
Left Click versus Right Click
Use Left Click when the intended verb is break or attack. The active tool and target still matter: a mining action, a combat action, and an empty-handed click can produce different results. Stop if the block or entity does not react as expected and check the tool instead of assuming the route is broken.
Use Right Click when the intended verb is place or use. This is the more context-sensitive input. It can place a selected block, use a selected item, or perform an interaction when the target accepts it. The same button does not guarantee the same outcome with every item.
For safe practice, test both inputs near the opening area with disposable materials before night. Learn how the hotbar indicates the active item and how far away the crosshair can be while an interaction works. That small rehearsal prevents accidental placement when you meant to feed Jerry or use an objective item.
Controls that belong to Creative Mode
The Creative Mode pass publishes additional actions: double-tap jump to fly, press G to switch Creative, and press C to pick blocks. Those controls are official for pass owners using Creative, not part of the normal free Story or Survival input list.
If G or C does nothing, confirm that the account owns the pass and that Creative has been activated in a supported Story or Survival server. Do not buy the pass solely because a base control seems missing. Review Creative Mode and the official pass description before spending Robux.
Mobile, controller, and remapping limits
The official public description does not document a complete mobile touch layout, controller map, console support matrix, or remapping menu. Roblox may provide platform-level inputs, while the experience supplies contextual buttons. Because those layers can differ, a PC label should not be mechanically converted into a claimed controller button.
On touch, identify the inventory and map buttons by opening them near spawn, then test the action control with a harmless block or item. On controller, read the live prompt and Roblox settings. If the prompt is absent, reconnect the device or rejoin before entering a timed objective. These are diagnostic steps, not confirmation that every platform has full parity.
Troubleshoot an input that seems broken
- Close inventory, map, chat, shop, or another overlay that may own keyboard focus.
- Confirm the correct item or tool is active and visible in hand.
- Move closer and aim directly at the intended block, item, or character.
- Recheck whether the objective says break/attack or place/use, then use the matching mouse button.
- Compare the current HUD prompt with the published base control; mode-specific prompts take priority.
- If the whole interface is unresponsive, rejoin the same mode before abandoning the route.
Do not treat one failed click as proof that a story trigger changed. A wrong active slot, open overlay, range problem, or another player completing the interaction first can look similar. Preserve the objective text and test the simplest cause first.
Quick answers
Which key opens inventory?
Press E on PC. Select the item you need before returning to the world and using it.
Which key opens the map?
Press M on PC to view Bob’s map. The map supports route planning; it does not replace reading the current objective.
How do I feed Jerry or place a block?
Right Click is the official Place / Use input. Equip the correct item, approach the valid target, and use it. Jerry’s tame requires three bones, not merely three clicks with any item.
Are there official controller controls?
A complete controller map was not published in the first-party description checked on October 25, 2026. Use the live device prompts and avoid assuming keyboard letters map to specific controller buttons.
